Business ethics. Does a corporation have moral agency

I have written it. Attached in a very first draft circa 10,000 words. It needs to be min 10,000 max 12,000 with no encouragement to max it out! I am pretty well researched at this stage on my subject matter (i’ve definitely gone in very deep with the reading!) but as you will note, I am struggling to string it together in one coherent academic document. Im basically dealing with the question of applying the idea that a corporation is or is not a moral agent (given that it is a manmade fictious entity with no body and soul, how and why can we afford it moral agency? Anyone familiar with this unresolved question in philosophy will know some of these thinkers in my paper: Friedman, French, Wolf, Velasquez, Manning, Petit, Danly, Ladd etc) I deal with themes of what is agency, what is intentionality, what constitutes a group and the irreducibility of harm among the individuals. In my intro I have put as notes bullet points what i think I am trying to say in the whole argument so let me put that here for you perusal and that way you can also see if i have veered off from this ● MAIN FOCUS: TO DEFINE MORAL AGENCY, SET IN A CONTEXT OF CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY ● USING OTHER THINKERS, I WANT TO SAY I BELIEVE THAT CORPORATE AGENCY DOES NOT COLLAPSE ONLY TO INDIVIDUALS. CORPORATE AGENCY IS SUFFICIENTLY PROVEN TO EXIST. THUS I DISAGREE WITH THE INDIVIDUALISTS ● CORPORATION HAS (MORAL) RESPONSIBILITIES ● A CORPORATION HOWEVER WHILE A MORAL AGENT IS NOT A PERSON AND THIS MATTERS ● THUS CORPORATION HAS SOME RIGHTS BUT LIMITED RIGHTS (NOT CONSTITUTIONAL, RIGHTS) ● PETITS REDEMPTION. THIS IS A REDEMPTION AS HE IS ORIGINAL IN SHOWING AND DECONSTRUCTING THE AGENCY PRESENT IN A CORPORATION AND HOW IT OPERATES WITH CONVERSIBLITY. HE CONCEDES THAT IF A CORPORATION HAS AGENCY THEN IT HAS RESPONSIBILITIES AND THEN IT HAS RIGHTS…BUT IT IS NOT A PERSON AND THUS WE MUST LIMIT THE RIGHTS (IN PODCAST ELUCIDATIONS, 10 FEB 2014 EPISODE 56 PETIT SPEAKS DIRECTLY AND PLAINLY ABOUT THIS AND THE DANGERS GOING ON IN AMERICA WITH GRANTING CORPORATIONS SAME/SIMILAR RIGHTS, (LIKE CONSTITUTIONAL, FREE SPEECH RIGHTS ETC) TO THAT OF PEOPLE. CITIZENS UNITED ● BONUS: CASE STUDY TO BE WEAVED IN? NOT IF COMPLICATES THINGS So that is what I believe and i am trying to convey and weave it all together. This is the feedback from my coach thus far with the document strewn with comments for correction, she says…. *start quote*This is taking shape and seems to have a much better logic. My main feedback regards increasing the criticality and creating more discussion around the points that you’ve made. I have also suggested that you have a complete discussion around the definitions of the corporation and agency within the introduction chapter rather than for each individual chapter to reduce the repetitiveness…*end quote* So, not in a hopeless state, i do not believe this is a rewrite but needs a lot of work, some restructuring, knowing what to delete and more citations etc. Someone with some experience in philosophy and even better this branch of philosophy would be ideal. I would be very happy to speak to the chosen writer and clarify, share all the papers i have cited, whatever. I have attached the latest copy with the feedback notes from my coach.
